Geeks Who Give Philabundance Food Drive Tweetup
Geeks Who Give is a recently formed community group in Philadelphia. GWG was created in order to harness the existing vibrant network of web & new media professionals in an effort to channel that energy into good. The Theory: Open Source Community Giving
On Tuesday, December 9th, GWG will be hosting a Food Drive & Tweetup to benefit Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s premiere food bank. The event will take place at National Mechanics in Old City from 6 to 9pm. At 7pm, local food podcasters Fork You will be giving a cooking demo with non-perishable food items. A food-centric raffle is in the works, with prizes being added everyday. Items donated so far include dinner with the City Paper food critic, David Snyder, aka, PhilaFoodie, Dinner for Two at Fork in Philadelphia, A Gift Certificate and T-shirt from Tattooed Mom‘s, Treats courtesy of Open Source Cupcakes, and a gift certificate to the Wine School of Philadelphia. The event will be followed with National Mechanic’s TechKaraoke at 9pm.
We are reaching out to the community in an effort to team up, not only to promote Philly, but to raise as much awareness as possible for this very important cause.
